  1.                                             FOCUSING

  3. The eyepieces can be focused by placing the focusing rod in the hole where the lamp and microscope arms rotate.

  5. With the focusing rod in place, adjust 
  6. the beam width to give a narrow 
  7. parallelepiped.  The beam should be in 
  8. center of your field of view.  If it is not 
  9. be sure the light tower rotation is in the 
  10. click position, center knob at bottom of 
  11. light tower near beam width control. 
  12. Looking through the eyepieces (one at a 
  13. time) rotate the eyepiece 
  14. counter-clockwise until the beam is 
  15. blurred then clockwise until it just comes 
  16. into focus.

  18. Remove the focusing rod and you are ready to examine the patient.
